MEIGS, GA -

The Meigs City Council replaced a member who was arrested.

The council chose Edward Rawls to fill the vacant seat and he was sworn in.
The decision was delayed after not enough council members showed up at the last meeting.
Mayor Linda Harris says after recent turmoil she wants members who are willing to work together to move the city forward.

"Well I just want somebody to come in that's going to move the city forward in a positive manner  and not hold things so personal,” said Linda Eason Harris, Mayor of Meigs. “That we can think about the city of Meigs because we have a grant now that we can get."

Edward Rawls is replacing Odessa Sutton.
Sutton resigned last month when she was charged with defrauding the city.
