DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - A possible bridge closing may cause a 30 to 50 mile detour for some Dougherty and Calhoun County residents.
The Georgia Department of Transportation is looking to replace the bridge on State Route 234 at the Calhoun Dougherty County line.
Dougherty County Administrator Richard Crowdis said it will be detrimental to many businesses around town.
"It'll be closed for one year," said Crowdis, "so that would be an impact on businesses, farmers, and people who deliver services."
The DOT needs justification to keep the bridge open.
If you have a problem with the closing, contact Matt Bennett at the DOT office in Jesup at 912-530-4392 by Friday.
