Advocacy groups ask for dash cam video amid arrest questions

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Two African American advocacy groups want the Tift County Sheriff's Office to release dash cam footage of a traffic stop.

They claimed officers wrongfully arrested Reginald Gray.

After a couple of recent traffic stops, he was arrested on charges including DUI and failure to obey traffic devices.

Deputies said Gray ran from the DUI stop.

Leaders from Justice League United and the New Black Panther Party said that's not true.

"The Dash cam video will eliminate all this, the dash cam will show the truth," said Bobby Worthy, President of Justice League United. "When he took off from the Police, I don't understand you should just get back in your car and chase them down."

The Sheriff's said they would not be able to release the dash cam video to anyone except for Gray's lawyers under state law.
