Police investigate pastor in child molestation case

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - One person is in custody after Albany police issued warrants for a child molestation case.

Nicholas Hillery was arrested for one count of child molestation and one count of sexual exploitation of children.

According to Albany Police this is an ongoing investigation from a report filed on Aug. 30th. Police responded to a call in the 200 block of North Central Street for a reported sex offense.

The mother of a 16-year-old female reported that her daughter had been sexually involved with an adult church member.

APD reports that the mother identified the adult as the current pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church.

Friday, APD sent out a 'be on the look out' for 45-year-old Hillery and shortly afterward reported that he was in police custody.

Hillery was not allowed bond.

Metropolitan Baptist Church released the following statement:

"Rev. Nicholas Hillery was serving as Interim Pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church; however, as of September 18, 2015 he is no longer Interim Pastor and has no Pastoral affiliation at Metropolitan.  He is the Pastor of St. Johns Full Gospel Baptist Church, Poulan, Georgia."
