ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

The Albany-Dougherty NAACP recognized Freedom Fighters tonight.

The group hosted its 38th Annual Freedom Awards Banquet at the Albany Civic Center.
The five recipients were Bishop Fredrick Williams, Reverend Ezekiel Holley, Albany State University, Darton State College, and Albany Technical College.
A scholarship was also given to an Albany State student.

"We want to recognize people who have been in the trenches, who has been working for the up building of humanity,” said Rev. Ezekiel Holley, Terrell County NAACP Branch. “We want to recognize people who are laborers in this vineyard. Civil Rights is not an easy job, it's not an easy task, it never has been easy."

Rev.Holley encourages people to volunteer in the community in education and to take advantage of their right to vote.
