VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

A man wanted in connection to a murder in Valdosta was arrested in Florida Friday.

Officials said Timothy Jerome Wiggins Jr. was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals in Miami.

Police received a tip that Wiggins was staying with relatives there.

He is accused of shooting 24-year-old Anthony Barber behind a vacant home on Ricardo Street on August 17, but investigators said they weren't sure exactly what led to the shooting.

"We're very appreciative of the U.S. Marshal service for offering their assistance and diligently working to find him down there in Miami. We're very happy that he's off the street," said Lt. Kari Williams with Valdosta Police.

There was no immediate word on when Wiggins would be brought back to Valdosta.
