DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

The Northwest Library branch in Albany hosted a fun event Thursday night to get kids excited about reading.

Children enjoyed activities at this pajama party before huddling around for story time.

One parent told us how important public libraries are to the development of children.

"Being a young man myself," said Donnell Williams. "I was always at the library also. I just want to continue with my kids to do the same thing. I think more parents should also encourage their kids to go to the library."

He said his daughter Dasia visits the library often to read and play educational computer games.
