CORDELE, GA (WALB) - Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock tells WALB that the driver of a pickup truck was traveling east on Highway 280 by Stripling's Store, when he crossed the center line, and was hit by a car going the other way.
The 911 call came in at 1:38PM Tuesday.
79-year-old Dwight Carter was pulling out of Stripling's in his Ford pickup truck, headed to Cordele, when he was hit by 46-year old Clyde Larkins, who was traveling west towards Sumter County.
The front of Larkins truck hit the front-driver's side of Carter's truck. Carter was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 3:30 yesterday afternoon. Larkins and his passenger received minor injuries.
The Sheriff's Office turned over the investigation to the Georgia State Patrol, who will release any further details.
