ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County School board members tonight approved turning a kindergarten classroom at Alice Coachman Elementary School into a new health clinic.
It will be similar to the one at Turner Elementary School.
Officials say it will allow students to be treated for non-emergency health problems on campus instead of being taken out of school.
"We're basically going to divide the classroom into three or four spaces," said Bob Fowler, DCSS Facilities Director. "Create some offices and exam rooms and make sure the bathrooms are set up so they can use it."
Construction will cost $30,000 and will start this week.
It should be finished within six weeks.
