Clerk tied up with own belt in robbery

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Police are searching for two men who robbed a GNC store and an employee inside, then tied him up with the belt he was wearing.

The robbery happened Sunday around 1:30 p.m. at the business on Bemiss Road in Valdosta.

An employee told police that two men followed him inside the store after he arrived, asked about some products, then pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the register.

The employee gave the men an undisclosed amount of money.

The two then forced him inside the store's bathroom and tied him up with the belt he was wearing.

The suspects were described as African American men, about 5'10" tall and 140 pounds, wearing white t-shirts.

A customer later came inside the store and heard a voice coming from the back, discovered the employee tied up in the bathroom, and called 911.

Detectives said they were working to recover any possible surveillance video.

Anyone with information about the robbery was asked to call Valdosta Police at their Crime Tip Line at 229-293-3091 or 229-293-3145.
