ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany State University students promoted suicide awareness Thursday as part of the National Suicide Prevention Day.

Students and faculty representing many organizations across the campus came together tonight with one goal as students held 100 candles at the windows of the ASU student center.

"We told them what the purpose of this meeting was. To remember any loved ones who are lost to suicide, and to think of people who are trying to prevent suicide," said Rani George, a Criminal Justice Professor at ASU.

The school received a grant for suicide prevention projects.

George hopes Albany State will continue to get the grant so the campus can put on more suicide prevention programs in the coming years.
