AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - The historical Rylander Theater was struck by lightning Wednesday.
The strike knocked out some bricks and created a small hole in one of the corners of the building.
The nearly century old building is still standing, but theater officials warn you shouldn't underestimate the weather. No matter how strong you think a building may be.
"What I have in my hand are some of the bricks that were sheared off. They were laying, strewn out here in the alley throughout the afternoon. Most of them had been cleaned up, but as you can tell... Lightning is a powerful force on a 95 year old brick building," Said Heather Stanley, the Managing Director of Rylander Theater.
The show must go on however, despite the damage the theater is still planning on hosting a community theater show Thursday through Sunday.
