School copes with death of second student this year

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta High School's counselor was helping students and teachers Wednesday deal with the death of a student for the second time since school started.

Grief counselors were made available to students and teachers Tuesday and again Wednesday in the wake of the death of 17 year old Quantavish Osby, who drowned in a pool in Moultrie over the weekend.

On August 27th, 18 year old Damaria Hill was shot outside a home in Valdosta and died the next day from his injuries.

"No matter how long they're here, once they're a part of our school community they're a Wildcat. It's sad that we lose them. We've had teachers upset," VHS Counselor Brian Law explained.

As of Wednesday, Osby's death was still under investigation but investigators believed he was holding his breath under water as part of a game he was playing.
