LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - Authorities say a caller to a bank threatened to blow up the building if employees did not cooperate with his demands.
Deputies responded to a Suntrust Bank on U.S. 19 a little before noon Wednesday, after they said someone called the bank, making demands for money.
According to the sheriff, a man called the bank and told employees he was watching them over the bank's surveillance video, and would blow up the building if staff members did not wire a certain amount of money to him through Western Union.
The employees did not do that, and no one was hurt during the ordeal.
The bank branch was still closed at 12:30 p.m.
About 30 minutes after crews arrived on the scene, some customers were allowed to leave the bank. They did not say anything as they left the building, and drove away.
