THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - A Thomas County man is out of jail on bond, after investigators found items they believe may have been used in conditioning dogs to fight.
33 year old Benji Branham was arrested Friday after Thomas County Humane Society officers were conducting a welfare check on animals at a home on 512 North Stevens Street.
The officers notified police after they said they saw a treadmill, a swim tank, eight dogs, and one cat on the property.
TPD Criminal Investigations Division officers executed a search warrant at the house, and the investigation is ongoing.
"Dog cruelty, dog fighting, or cruelty to animals, is something that we take seriously and this community takes very seriously. It's unnecessary and it's not right," said Major Eric Hampton Thomasville Police Department.
Branham is charged with dog fighting and related conduct and cruelty to animals. He was given a $2,600 bond.
