Main Cordele street to get a name change

Commissioner Royce Reeves Commissioner Royce Reeves
CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

A busy road in Cordele will soon have a new name honoring a Civil Rights leader.

Commissioners got the approval to change Seventh Street to Martin Luther King, Junior Boulevard.

Commissioner Royce Reeves brought the idea up in a recent city council meeting.

"Me being an elected official, and one of the leaders here, I felt it was right and long overdue to give honor to Dr. Martin Luther King," he said.

No date has been set for the official renaming ceremony.
