Search underway in Valdosta for stabbing suspect

VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police announced Tuesday that they were searching for the person who they say stabbed another man multiple times Monday morning.

Police said someone 51 year old Thomas White knows knocked on his door at 1716 S. Patterson St. about 7:15 Monday morning.

White let him in.

The two started talking, then, police said, the man picked up White's cell phone and stabbed him multiple times when White asked him to put the phone down.

"The last I knew, [White] only knew [the suspect] by a street name. We're trying to track that down," said Valdosta Police Department Lt. Kari Williams. "We're not concerned that the average citizen is going to go walking around town and is going to be assaulted by this person."

As of Tuesday afternoon, White remained in the hospital but his injuries were not believed to be life threatening.

Call Valdosta Police at (229) 293-3091 if you have any information about this case.
