ATLANTA, GA (WALB) - Waffle House sold its 1 billionth waffle Tuesday morning.
The historic sale was made at 10:04 a.m. at an Atlanta location.
The milestone for the business came exactly 60 years and 1 day from when the first Waffle House opened its doors in Avondale Estates, an Atlanta suburb.
Waffle House shared the big news on Twitter, showing the lucky patron holding a special yellow and black plaque memorializing the occasion.
According to WXIA-TV, Shanneil McCollum of Miami ordered the 1 billionth waffle.
According to its website, the 1 billionth waffle sale comes after more than 1.2 billion cups of coffee, 1.3 billion orders of grits, 1.6 billion orders of bacon strips, 1.8 billion orders of hashbrowns, and more than 2.5 billion orders of eggs.
On Labor Day in 1955, Joe Rogers and Tom Forkner opened the first Waffle House restaurant of the iconic chain.
Every restaurant is open 24 hours a day, 365 days per year.
Waffle House is headquartered in Norcross, GA, and operates more than 1,500 restaurants company and franchisee owned.
