ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Police say a man wanted for smash and grab business burglaries for more than a year was captured on Labor Day.
Donmetreal Walker was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property in the second degree.
According to police, he was wanted in connection to burglaries that happened August 4th and 5th at the A&S Foods on Mobile Avenue, the Dollar General on East Oglethorpe Boulevard, and the Dixie Food Mart on East Broad Avenue.
Walker was taken to the Dougherty County Jail.
"Once a matter is indicted, every effort will be made to bring persons to justice. So the matter is now still pending," said Dougherty D.A. Greg Edwards.
Walker is being held in the Dougherty County Jail. One of the business owners he is charged with burglarizing said she was very glad that police had not forgotten the crime.
He is the seventh person arrested in connection to the burglaries. Authorities said before his arrest, Amir Vicks, Demickey Rogers, Elequanta Patterson, Jafarius Patterson, Marcquise Rivers, and Jessie Proctor were also arrested.
