New Thomasville Publix set to open Thursday

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) -

After a groundbreaking last May,  Thomasville's new Publix supermarket will officially open, at 7:00 Thursday morning,

Called "Publix at Park Place" it is about a half a mile down the road from the original location, next door to Lowe's, at 13775 Highway 19 South.

In addition to the traditional grocery, meat, produce, dairy and frozen food departments, the new 53,785 square-foot store will have a  pharmacy, bakery, deli, floral, and fresh seafood.  It will employ about 175 people.  
    
General store hours will be 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Pharmacy Hours are:
Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday    9:00 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Sunday    11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Here in Southwest Georgia the American Red Cross has been working the last couple of days to prepare for the storm.  The American Red Cross has been getting their relief supplies ready across the 19 county region.

    With Memorial Day around the corner, one Southwest Georgia military fraternity decided to host a blood drive in honor of fallen soldiers and to give back to the community.  Psi Delta Tau Military Fraternity Incorporated held the event at a neighborhood Wal-Mart to help those in need.

    The weather didn't stop one Albany church from having a nice southern barbeque.       St. James Missionary Baptist Church held their third annual 'Unity in the Community BBQ event' Saturday.  They gave away hundreds of food and clothing items.
