ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany State hosted their first game of the season on Saturday at 7 p.m., and lots of people kicked it off with grilling and other activities.
There was a good turnout for the start of the season. A group of fans, called the "ASU Rooters", were out as early as 1 p.m. getting ready to tailgate. They follow the ASU football team where ever they go.
The Rooters were happy the first game of the season was in Albany, against their notorious rival, Valdosta State.
"They are one of our biggest rivalry and um, bout time we beat em. We haven't be them in quiet sometime. So we're looking forward to the beginning of the season," said Willie Wing Field.
Rams fans were looking for that big "W" to make a nice start for the season.
