VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

The Valdosta fire chief's car was squeaky clean Friday afternoon thanks to Valdosta's police chief.

Friday, Police Chief Brian Childress washed Chief Freddie Broome's car as a result of the fire department collecting more pints of blood than law enforcement did during the city's "Guns 'N Hoses" blood drive on July 31st.

The fire department collected 36 pints, the police department and all other law enforcement agencies that participated together only collected 34.

"It makes me feel good. Anytime I get a chance to have one up on Chief Childress I always look forward to the opportunity," said Chief Broome, smiling, as Chief Childress sprayed chief Broome with some soap and water.

Continued Chief Broome, "we we're able to collect seventy pints of blood for our local community. and that's always a win for our community."

Chief Childress and Valdosta Mayor John Gayle also presented Chief Broome with the "Guns 'N Hoses" blood drive trophy, which will be housed at the fire department until next year's blood drive.
