VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - A south Georgia credit union is once again teaming up with Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta to help fight hunger in South Georgia.
Southeastern Federal Credit Union officially kicked off its 2nd annual "Fill A Truck For Hunger" food drive at Wild Adventures Friday.
Through Monday, anyone who brings a non-perishable food item with them when they come into the park will get a buy one get one free pass to get into the park.
The food will be loaded into a truck and then donated to Second Harvest.
"One in four people in South Georgia struggle with hunger on a daily basis, including one in three area children. So, if one in four are hungry that means three in four can help," said Second Harvest Chief Marketing Officer Eliza McCall as she explained to Wild Adventures employees why the event is so important.
Southeastern Federal Credit Union's CEO and Wild Adventures's general manager also spoke to the employees at the kick off event, expressing their belief in the importance of the program.
Throughout September, businesses across South Georgia will also be collecting food for Second Harvest as part of the "Fill A Truck For Hunger" event. To see a list of the businesses, click here.
