VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - The Valdosta Fire Department was continuing its effort Thursday to help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The fire department held a big lunch for all of the firefighters this afternoon to fill them up before they headed off to grocery stores around town to collect donations.
It's the fire department's annual "Fill The Boot" campaign.
Lt. Derek Willis said he looks forward to this event every year because his son has Muscular Dystrophy. "It helps send kids to camp, it helps pay for shots, wheel chairs, strollers; anything that they need to assist these families that kids with muscular diseases,"Lt. Willis explained with his son by his side.
Firefighters will be collecting donations until 7 Thursday night and again from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at all three Valdosta Winn Dixies and both Walmarts.
