Couple arrested in Decatur Co. for 'Shake and Bake' Meth

BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Christopher Smith, 31, and his wife Amanda Smith, 27, were arrested Wednesday night by Decatur County deputies on drug charges, and will likely face shoplifting charges as well

Deputies got a tip from a pharmacy that the Smiths were buying large amounts of pseudoephedrine the previous day, and began surveillance around their home on Sloughloop Road.

When they made contact with the couple, investigators said Christopher admitted to having an active 'shake and bake' Meth lab in his GMC Envoy. The investigators made the arrests, and called for certified officers to neutralize Meth fumes in the area.

Prior to that, a Walmart loss prevention manager called a Decatur Co. investigators to say that a man and woman were caught on surveillance cameras stealing GPS systems and Coleman camp fuel on August 31. Investigators immediately recognized them as Christopher and Amanda Smith.

Both were taken to the Decatur county jail, and charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, and unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine.   Their car was also seized.
