VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) -

Valdosta Police have a sixteen year old juvenile in custody, and are looking for his accomplice, after a stolen car chase ended in a crash late Wednesday night in Valdosta.

Just before 11:00, a 20 year old Kelly Proffitt ran to a neighbor's house and called 911 to tell authorities that she had been robbed by two young men as she drove up in her driveway in the 100 block of East Mary Street.

Proffitt said they had a pistol, and demanded her money and the keys to her 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe, which she gave them.

The two took off, but were soon seen by VPD officers, who tried to stop the driver near East Magnolia and North Forrest Street. He took off, and wrecked the car, and the two ran, but one was caught and arrested by VPD and Lowndes County deputies.

"They both jumped from the vehicle and ran practically as it was still moving. So, as officers came up of course they had to secure the vehicle then get out and go after them. The one guy that was caught actually kind of stumbled," said Valdosta Police Capt.. Bobbi McGraw.

He was treated for an ankle injury, and his accomplice got away. Police are looking for him now.

The boy who was driving the Tahoe was transported to a juvenile detention facility in Waycross, pending judicial proceedings.  he will be charged with Aggravated Assault, Armed Robbery, Criminal Damage to Property and other charges.

Anyone having any information regarding this incident, please contact VPD at 229-293-3091 or 229-293-3145.
