ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany City Commissioner is calling increased security at the Government Center.
Commissioner Jon Howard is calling on city and county administrators to have an entrance checkpoint to get into the government center, to make sure no one brings weapons inside.
Howard was in his fifth floor office in the Government Center Thursday when an angry man came in shouting, scaring him and employees.
He says the city building ought to have a metal detector and a security guard, like the county courthouse has.
"It gives you warning that we need to do something as soon as possible. To make sure not only elected officials are safe, but the public that are using these buildings. They are safe also. And of course the employees," said Howard.
Howard admits this will be an added expense, but worthwhile.
