ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Sherwood Christian Academy, on Old Pretoria Road in Albany, hosted the Southwest Regional GOAL Scholarship school meeting Tuesday morning.
A dozen private schools that utilize the Georgia Education Tax Credit program to raise funds for private school scholarships were in attendance. The Georgia GOAL Scholarship organization administers the program for Sherwood and other schools.
The Georgia Education Tax Credit is a program where Georgia taxpayers can redirect up to $2,500 of their state tax liability to a private school of their choice to be used for scholarships. Corporations can redirect up to $10,000 of their tax liability to the schools.
In this area, SCA and Deerfield participate in the program, and have raised several million in scholarship aid.
