River trails feedback sought

Paul Forgey Paul Forgey
ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Dougherty County Commissioners are asking for feedback from the community on a plan to connect trails on the Flint River.

Over the next three weeks, county planners want to hear from the public about plans to connect the Riverfront, Chehaw and Rails to Trails line going to Sasser.

Planning and Development Service Director Paul Forgey says that it's important to have the public involved while in the process of this project.

"Most people who ride bikes or who are interested in canoes and  kayaks, letting them know what we're doing helps them have buy in to the program in the long run," said Forgey.

Responses to the proposals are due by September 22nd. The county plans to have a contractor within two months.
