VALDOSTA, GA (WALB) - On Sunday morning, around 9:00 investigators with the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff's Office conducted a traffic stop in the 2500 block of U.S. Highway 84 West.
Investigators conducted a searched of the driver and vehicle, and found a .380 caliber handgun, with a laser, a quantity of Alpha PVP also known as 'Flakka,' plastic bags, scales and less than an ounce of marijuana.
The driver, Joshua Youmans, was arrested and taken to the Lowndes County Jail.
Youmans will be in the Lowndes County Magistrate Court this afternoon where a bond will be considered.
About twelve hours later, investigators with the Special Operations Division of the Sheriff's Office arrested David McKire in the 1700 block of River Street after receiving information regarding his possession of illegal narcotics and involvement with prostitution.
As the investigators approached, David McKire tried to run but was quickly caught and arrested. While searching McKire, the investigators found approximately three quarters of an ounce of Flakka, as well as plastic bags, scales and a small quantity of cocaine.
McKire was taken to the Lowndes County Jail. He will also have a bond hearing this afternoon.
"These drugs are becoming more and more common despite the dangerous effects they have and are destroying young lives," said Sheriff Chris Prine.
