ALBANY, GA (WALB) - With Tropical Storm Erika projected to hit South Florida, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is in Albany for support.
FEMA is setting up a staging area at the Marine Corps Logistics base. They are bringing in emergency resources such as water, meals and medical equipment for South Florida. The state of Florida sees the extreme impact that FEMA has there.
The agency plans to stay set up through next week, and possibly longer, depending on how Tropical Storm Erika advances.
"However it's FEMAs position that we prepare for worst-case scenario. that way we're on-site," said Bond Luddeke. "We're bringing in commodities and resources, just in case South Florida were to need something."
They expect to fill the lot with many more resources, depending on the trajectory and power of the storm.
