AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Some Residents in Sumter County got an opportunity to get an inside perspective to law enforcement.
Deputies from the Crisp County Sheriff's Office took their laser simulator to the Sumter County Kiwanis meeting Friday.
Attendees got an opportunity to take part in the simulations that put them in situations where use of force is necessary.
"It gives people an idea about what law enforcement goes through and you got a split second to make a decision," said Sumter County Sheriff Pete Smith.
"You don't realize the emotions that are going on in a time like that. It's very stressful and I can understand, now, more so, what these officers deal with on a daily basis," said Lewis Webb.
Southern Circuit Superior Court Judge Rucker Smith took part in the event, and says he's going to stay on the bench.
