BAINBRIDGE, GA (WALB) - Tchaikovsky Williams was walking to his girl friend's house at 408 4th Street, Bainbridge, around 7:30 Friday morning, when he saw smoke coming from the back.
He ran to the house and pounded on the door, but couldn't raise anyone. Williams then broke through the front door to rouse the people sleeping inside.
He was met by a wall of smoke, so he dropped to the floor. He decided he might have a better chance at the back of the house, so he ran to it.
He saw the flames, and broke a window to get inside, cutting his hand in the process. He found Alisia Hopkins, her Aunt Deborah Harper, and her Aunt's Boyfriend Bernard Akins, who were all asleep in the home.
He told them the house was on fire, and they got all out of the home safely.
The Bainbridge Salvation Army is helping the family on a temporary basis. If you'd like to help, call (229) 726-9636.
