ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Police Gang Unit is sharing information with other South Georgia gang officers, hoping to control gang crime better.
The Gang Unit Commander says gangs across the country are combining and morphing into new units.
His Unit will meet more often with other gang officers in surrounding cities and counties to stay on top of gang activity.
Lt. Antonio Fletcher said "Just basically intelligence. Some of the other surrounding agencies may be experiencing the same thing as we are. Just what issues they are having, and see if we can compare notes."
Fletcher says by knowing more about neighboring gang activity, all the agencies will be better able to control crime.
