TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Residents--upset over the construction over a crematory--filled Tifton city hall today for a special called city council meeting.

It lasted almost 2 hours as folks on both sides talked about the project.

Nearby business owner Spud Bowen says the proper permits were either not given or were given out of order.

He said his complaint isn't over whether the crematory is built.

"I can't change that and that's not my argument. I just simply want the additions that were made to it--the parking, the landscaping, the exit out of the property--it all should be approved before someone continues to build on," said nearby business owner Spud Bowen.

The owner of Reflections Cremations and Funeral Services, Mike Jones, says he has the proper permits and should not have to stop construction.

No decision was made before the mayor closed the meeting.
