ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Officials released the name of the man charged in the shooting death of a man outside a convenience store.
Richard Montez Butler is charged with aggravated assault and tampering with evidence.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of Brothers Corner store on Newton Road in South Albany around 7 a.m. Wednesday.
According to the Dougherty County Coroner, the victim who died in the shooting was identified as 35-year-old Richard J. Butler.
An autopsy for Butler was scheduled for Thursday in the investigation.
Butler and a second person, identified as Arthur Bell, were taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds, where Butler later died.
Bell was still in the hospital Thursday afternoon. His condition was not immediately available.
