National Dog Day helps raise awareness to sheltered dogs who need good homes and so does Rami at the Moultrie Colquitt Co. Humane Society.

Pictures of Rami, the adorably odd looking dachshund-pit bull mix started gaining world-wide attention in March.

After the shelter decided to keep Rami as an ambassador, the adoption rates at the humane society have increased by 75 percent.

"To me he brings in a lot of positive energy. People come in just to see him and a lot of times they walk out with a dog that they've adopted because they wanted to come in and see Rami so it's a good thing having him here on a daily basis," said Dawn Blanton, the director of the Moultrie Colquitt Co. Humane Society.
