Lawn equipment goes missing in South Georgia city

Police are looking for thieves who stole more than thousand dollars of lawn equipment.

Two weed-eaters and a blower were taken from behind Middle Flint Behavioral Care on Habitat Street.

Police are encouraging businesses and residents to lock up valuable stuff.

"Don't leave them out in the open where anyone can just walk up and take them. Take the little time, take a little bit more time, a little bit more effort to secure your valuables--especially power tools which are high dollar value items," said Interim Chief Herman Lamar with the Americus Police Department.

Major Lamar asks pawn shops in the area to keep an eye out for the stolen equipment and to call police if it shows up.
