ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The federal government says the Albany Housing Authority is serving residents well and spending tax money wisely.
The authority earned high performer status from the Department of Housing Urban Development.
It scored a 92 rating based on inspections, financial, and management performance.
"Our staff are doing an excellent job," said Dan McCarthy, Executive Director. "The property managers and their property staff are key players in this. The physical inspection of the property is a significant amount of the total score, about 40 percent. Then the occupancy rate is how many people we have in the units, 97-98 percent occupancy that helps us score well.
This is the fourth straight year the Albany Housing Authority has earned High Performer Status.
