Another East Albany home torched to cover up burglary

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A third home in an East Albany neighborhood was set on fire to cover up a burglary, investigators said.

The Albany Fire Department said multiple fires were intentionally set in a house in the 2500 block of Marianne Street Monday about 4:30 p.m.

A big screen TV was stolen from inside before the fire.

Investigators said a red or maroon van was seen parked in a Johnson Road Park at the same time, and they're asking for information about that van.

"We need your help, because we are trying to stop these people as soon as we can," said Albany Fire Inspector Sam Harris. "These people continue to do this and they may harm someone.  And we are concerned about that."

Two other East Albany families lost their homes and everything they own in similar arson fires Sunday and early Monday.
