Americus car break-ins on the rise

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Americus Police are adding more patrols after another increase in car break-ins. More than a half dozen people became victims over the last week.

Police plan to ride through neighborhoods more, but they say preventing these crimes really comes down to citizens being smart.

"We constantly encourage them, please do not leave valuables in your car. These are crimes of opportunity. We do local PSA's on the radio stations," Interim Chief Herman Lamar Americus Police Department.

So far, police have made no arrests.
