Cordele police investigate a string of shootings

CORDELE, GA (WALB) -

Police charged Kenneth Lester with aggravated assault for shooting at 54-year old Robert Ashley at his home on 20th avenue on August 2nd.

Two men were hurt in another shooting at a housing complex last week.

Montae Jones is wanted for questioning in a third shooting at 10th Street and 22nd Avenue that injured Avery Hall.

Police have a message for concerned residents. "We've got persons of interest in one. We've made an arrest on the other. And we are working active leads. That one in Holsey Cobb is far from over so yes they can rest assured that our detectives are working diligently for it," said Sgt. Jeremy Taylor of the Cordele Police Department.

A fourth shooting happened last night at 405 East 24th Avenue.    The homeowner told police a masked man knocked on his door and started shooting.

Police say the shootings do not appear to be connected.
