ALBANY, GA (WALB) - With the Labor Day holiday approaching, Georgia State troopers are concerned by the number of crashes they're seeing caused by people incorrectly merging from highway entrance ramps.
Troopers say merging drivers must yield to traffic already on the road.
They shouldn't expect drivers on the highway to move over or slow down.
"That's one thing we can really focus on as far as decreasing the crashes, is people merging into the highway without yielding to oncoming traffic," said Sgt. Shawn Urquhart of the Georgia State Patrol
Troopers warn they will be cracking down on violators who don't yield when they merge as they try to keep the heavy Labor Day traffic safer.
