Epicon turns out epic in Albany

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

It was a packed house at the Hasan Temple for Albany's first ever Epicon event.

Epicon, the first ever Comic book Convention hit Albany today and the turn out was bigger than some expected.

"First time Con you know I thought it be, you know, less crowded than this," Chris Coleman said.

Chris Coleman traveled here all the way from Douglas.

Once he heard of the event he knew he had to come down and check it out.

"I'm really excited to be here,"  Coleman said.

Coleman certainly has a lot to be excited about from the panels to the vendors.

Organizers say there is something for everyone here.

"There's a guy over there who said he'll 3-D print you into this little statue I've never seen that before," Coleman said.

Although Coleman is surprised by the turn out. Organizers say they expected a large crowd.

"The need for it always been here but there's been nobody to deliver," Timothy Haire said.

But Timothy Haire has delivered.

He say's that today's theme is about the underdogs.

"We have a lot of Zombies and background actors from the walking dead. We have fan films, some of the Atlanta film industry is here as well. So it's great to have them all come out," Timothy Haire said.

And with today's big success, Coleman is hoping for another Epic Epicon next year.
