ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty High School wrestling coach says he's proud of a former team member who's competing on a nationally televised competition show.
Army National Guard Captain, Ryan Stratis made it to the final round of American Ninja Warrior.
Stratis created a promotional video to recruit new wrestlers to the Dougherty High team.
"For anybody out there questioning whether or not they should give wrestling a try, definitely give it a shot. It's a lot of fun," said Ryan Stratis, American Ninja Warrior Contestant.
Dougherty High School Wrestling Coach Ben Johnson coached Stratis in the late '90's and says he was a hard working student.
"High school wrestling instilled in Ryan, the fight and the will and the determination to finish the job," said Ben Johnson, Dougherty High School Wrestling Coach. "Ryan is a kid that does not quit and to be competitive in that sport, American Ninja Warrior you cannot give up. You've got to be a fighter and that's why he's been so successful."
Stratis is competing in the Las Vegas Military finals for a chance at a million dollars.
You can see American Ninja Warrior Mondays at 8 on WALB NBC.
