ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Albany Police Department's traffic unit is warning motorists to slow down, and is cracking down in school zones.
Officers have written 70 speeding tickets in school zones since school started on August 5th.
"We have a zero tolerance when it comes to speeding in the school zone," said Officer Greg Gadt. "So generally that means we will give you a couple of miles over the speed limit. And if we stop and talk with you, you are going to get a citation"
The speed limit in school zones is 25 mph during the posted times. During those times, speeding fines are doubled.
Officers also urge you to watch for school buses in school zones.
