Officials have arrested 40-year-old Cornelius Clark for a rash of church burglaries.

Clark is suspected of breaking into churches through windows and doors and targeting electronic equipment.

Police say that Clark has primarily taken electronic music equipment but has also stolen other items of value.

The Sumter County Sheriff's Office says that Clark would steal the items from churches near Americus, Ga. Then sell the items near Henry County.

Sheriff Pete Smith commends his deputies for their hard work.

"They've worked round the clock trying to clear up some of these things. You know it's a low down son of a gun that'll steal to start with but he's a lot worse when he steals from a church," said Sumter County Sheriff Pete Smith.

Officials also say that similar burglaries happened in Sumter, Dooly, Crisp, Macon, Schley and Taylor Counties.

The police department also believes that Clark has pawned many stolen items in Albany, Cordele, Americus, Griffin, Stockbridge and McDonough, Ga.
