Arrests made in Tifton armed robbery

TIFTON, GA (WALB) -

Officials have made two arrests in an armed robbery case from late July.

Hakeem G. Bateman, 25, of Tifton was arrested on August 4th and Jonathan L. Bellamy, 22, of Tifton was arrested in Atlanta on August 12th and transported to Tifton on August 20th.

Both men are being charged for the robber that happened July 20th near the Olde Times Restaurant in Tifton.

The victim claims that he drove his vehicle down the alley behind Olde Times when one of the suspects stepped in front of his vehicle.

He said that he rolled his window down to speak with the suspect when another man came out of the bushes pointing a gun at him.

The victim then says that the two men took his phone and money and had him get out of the car and get on the ground.

The two men then searched the vehicle and also took his GPS unit.

A witness who was able to describe the two suspects said that he saw them get into a car near by and drove off.

The gun was only fired into the air once as the suspects were leaving the scene.

Detectives J. Teter and B. Jones from the Tifton Police led the investigation that led to the arrest of the two suspects.
