AMERICUS, GA (WALB) -

H20 Sports Manufacturing has decided to add 15 more jobs, after only eight months of production, and seeing a recent spike in sales.

Growth is a part of a bigger trend in Sumter County, and the boat manufacturer needs the employees to meet increasing demand. Along with making boats, they also provide sanding, spraying, buffing, and cleaning services.

"We focus solely on the saltwater fishing markets," said President Chad Roberson.

The company starts with an empty frame before it eventually becomes a finished product. The company's first boat shipped out in January.

"We started off with five employees and have built it up to 31 currently," said Roberson. "And zero dealers and we're up to over 20."

Dealers are asking for a lot of boats, making it hard for employees to keep up.

"We recently had a dealer meeting and we sold right around 300 boats at that dealer meeting, and fortunately, we need more people," said Roberson.

The company is hiring for 15 full-time, skilled labor positions.

"It's consistent and steady growth, which is what a community like Americus likes to see," said Chamber Executive Director Barbara Grogan.

A food distributor in the area is also busy, with construction underway for their new facility.

"We're seeing continued growth in that area of our industrial park, and we certainly encourage that as a community and welcome others that might want to consider it," said Grogan.

For companies like this one, they may be hiring for a long time, as their goals stretch way out of Sumter County.

Roberson wants to fill the positions within a month. You can apply online, or by walking in at the facility.
