Two Monday Albany fires investigated

ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Albany Fire Department Investigators are looking into the cause of two Monday afternoon fires.
They say the fire at 1715 West Oglethorpe Boulevard just before 12:45 was definitely arson.
It was set in the middle bedroom of the vacant house, possibly by vagrants.
About 5:30 Monday afternoon another fire damaged this home in the 1900 block of Melrose Drive.
The cause could take weeks to determine because of construction inside the home.

Albany Fire Department Investigator Sam Harris said "It was. There was remodeling going on.  The flooring guy was sanding the floor."

Firefighters say there are not more fires than usual in Albany, but they are investigating the cause of all of them.
